Biography

Shiva Regmi (1965 – 9 December 2013) was a Nepalese film director, producer, and screenwriter who worked on over one hundred films throughout his career. He made his directorial debut with the 1999 movie Aafanta, and his final project was the 2012 film So Simple. Regmi earned significant recognition for his work, winning the National Film Award for Best Director twice— first in 2010 for Duniya and again in 2012 for Kaha Bhetiyela. He also won the National Film Award for Best Writer in 2013 for Hasi Deu Ek Phera. He is celebrated as a pioneering filmmaker in Nepal for writing and directing substantial roles for female characters during an era when cinema was heavily focused on male leads.
